A two-day practical workshop for counsellors/therapists

helping clients who have survived abuse

Facilitators: Roger & Christine Day

Survivors are defined as those who have experienced neglect and/or physical, emotional or sexual abuse. Included in this workshop will be 'first-aid' coping techniques, exploring of the senses, spatial awareness, safe relating, nonverbal expressions and reprogramming of the emotions.

 

People attending this workshop will learn a variety of creative techniques for helping survivors of all ages to effect positive change and move on in life. Participants will explore techniques to limit the effects of trauma in their clients’ everyday lives.

Also included will be ways to deal with disclosures from adult and child clients, including the vital importance of note-taking, and how to work with child protection departments. Ideas will be given in how to counsel children who are being called as witnesses in court, taking into account Crown Prosecution Service guidelines.

This workshop will be of benefit to the counsellor/therapist new to working with survivors and the person who has had many years' experience.
